Preview of refurbished WWII bunker

The public can get a sneak peek at the refurbished Battle Box at Fort Canning Park ahead of its official reopening next month.

Guided tours will be conducted, and the media will today be taken on one of those tours of the bunker after its $300,000 makeover.

The Battle Box is the World War II site where the British decided to surrender Singapore to the Japanese on Feb 15, 1942.

Yingluck trial resumes

The trial of Thailand's former premier Yingluck Shinawatra for alleged negligence in a multibillion-dollar scheme which paid rice farmers up to twice the market rate for their crop resumes today.

Yingluck, who denies wrongdoing, can be jailed for up to 10 years if convicted.

Banks association celebrates CNY

The Association of Banks in Singapore is holding its annual Lunar New Year lunch today. Its chairman Wee Ee Cheong is expected to announce new initiatives to be undertaken by the association in support of the national SkillsFuture road map for the financial sector.
