SINGAPORE - People in Singapore, including Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, wrote elated posts on social media heralding the return of blue skies after more than a month of hazy conditions.

The haze has plagued Singapore since the middle of September, and Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) readings reached hazardous levels (301-400) on the worst day of the haze late last month.

As the monsoon changes, there are hopes that the clear skies are here to stay.

Said Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen in his Facebook post: "With the North-east monsoon season soon to come upon us, the haze, the worst in a decade, will lift."
