Water supply disrupted for some HDB blocks in Clementi

SINGAPORE - Water supply was disrupted on Wednesday (Oct 28) evening for some HDB blocks in Clementi.

PUB is working to restore supply, said MP Tan Wu Meng , who added that many blocks were experiencing the problem.

"The affected units so far are in the lower floors, which receive water directly from PUB mains," he wrote in a Facebook post at about 7pm. "PUB water wagons are on the way to the affected areas, as well as water bags."

In an update posted some 45 minutes later, Dr Tan said water supply has resumed for some of the affected blocks. "In some places the pressure is a bit low for now, although the water is flowing," he wrote.

"I understand the water pressure fell around 5.30pm. My grassroots leaders and the Town Council alerted me 30 minutes later," he told The Straits Times.

Water supply has been restored to the affected homes, although the water pressure is lower than usual in some cases, he added.

PUB said it had received calls from customers in the Clementi and Ghim Moh areas from around 5.40 pm reporting of poor pressure or no water.

"Our service van crews attended to the affected customers immediately and provided water bags. 4 water wagons were also deployed to site," a PUB spokesperson told The Straits Times.

The water supply was progressively normalised from 6.40 pm, the spokesperson said, adding that PUB was investigating the cause of the incident.

Dr Tan said he visited some of the affected homes, and met with the PUB water wagon and technical teams on-site in Clementi.

"Will await PUB's advice on the causes of the problem. In the meantime, our RC and C2E community response volunteers are on the ground and watching the situation closely," he said.
