War relic detonated at Telok Blangah construction site

A World War II bomb was found and detonated at a construction site at Telok Blangah Street 31.

The junction of Telok Blangah Street 31 and Street 32 was closed to traffic for a few hours on Thursday afternoon.

But the roads have re-opened and traffic is back to normal, said the police.

Police received a call at 7.03pm on Wednesday about the incident. The Singapore Armed Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was activated and worked through the night to dispose of the relic around 1.20pm the next day. The army said in a Facebook post on Thursday night that the relic was a fused and fired 50kg World War II aerial bomb that required disposal onsite. It also posted a video of the process.
