Wanted: Contributions on Singapore's old trades for NHB exhibition

What do a poultry farmer, letter writer and goldsmith have in common?

They are all tradesmen who were once a common sight during the old days of Singapore.

The National Heritage Board is inviting the public to contribute photographs and stories to an exhibition featuring these trades.

Entitled The Trade Winds: Stories of Pioneer Tradesmen, it will tell the stories of six individuals who worked in these once common trades.

Stories on a movie poster painter, a Samsui woman and a Malay confinement lady and tok tok mee man will be among those featured.

The exhibition will open on Mar 1 at the National Museum of Singapore.

Those interested in offering their stories or photographs can contact gillian_lee@nhb.gov.sg or aisyah_badiuszaman@nhb.gov.sg by Jan 31.
