Vehicle inspection fees have gone up by as much as 10 per cent since stricter tests began this month.
From April 1, cars registered from 2014 will be subject to the so-called "High Idle Emission Test", which requires the engine to be revved to above 2,500rpm when measuring what comes out of the tailpipe.
