Van driver dies after accident involving bus in Woodlands

The police have put up a sign appealing for witnesses to the fatal incident.

The 54-year-old male van driver was taken unconscious to the hospital, where he subsequently died, the police added.

SINGAPORE – A man has died following an accident involving his van and a bus in Woodlands on May 20.

In a media reply, the police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the accident at Woodlands Avenue 3 towards Woodlands Square at 1.25pm that day.

“A person was found trapped in the driver’s seat of a van,” SCDF said, adding that he was rescued using hydraulic rescue equipment.

The 54-year-old male van driver was taken unconscious to Woodlands Hospital, where he subsequently died.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Traffic deaths hit a 10-year high in 2025, with 149 people killed, compared with 141 in 2016. The number of people injured has also risen – from 9,342 in 2024 to 9,955 in 2025.
