SINGAPORE – A male motorist was arrested after a pedestrian died following a traffic accident in Bedok on Oct 15.

The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force said they were alerted to an accident involving a van and a pedestrian along Bedok North Street 3 towards Bedok North Avenue 2 at about 5.15pm.

A 62-year-old male pedestrian was taken unconscious to Changi General Hospital, where he died, the authorities said.

The 69-year-old driver was arrested for careless driving, the police said, adding that investigations are ongoing.

A video posted on Singapore Incident’s Facebook page on Oct 15 showed the aftermath of the incident.

A red van and several police officers can be seen at the scene.
