US Army Pacific commander calls on Singapore's Minister for Defence

Lieutenant-General Francis Wiercinski, the Commanding General of the United States Army Pacific, called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen on Monday afternoon.

LTG Wiercinski is in Singapore for a three-day introductory visit, which will end Tuesday. He had earlier called on Chief of Army Major-General Ravinder Singh after inspecting a Guard of Honour.

The leader of US Army forces in Asia and the Pacific on Monday spoke to officers of the 44th Command and Staff Course at the Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College on "Rebalancing in the Asia-Pacific". He will also visit the Murai Urban Training Facility.

The Defence Ministry said in a statement that the visit underscores the "excellent and long-standing" defence ties between the two countries. The two armed forces regularly interact through professional exchanges and exercises such as Exercise Tiger Balm, an annual bilateral exercise.
