SINGAPORE - Offering instalment schemes that charge high interest rates for late payment to desperate maids is exploitative, and the authorities may have to look into the matter, said labour MP Seah Kian Peng.
When told that several retailers were offering such schemes to maids who were desperate for cash, Mr Seah, who is NTUC Enterprise group chief executive, said such practices should not be supported.
