Unemployed man jailed 6 months for threatening father with chopper

He turned nasty when his father inadvertently banged a padlock against the metal gate after walking the family's dog.

Albert Ang Boon Thiam, 39, unemployed, then took a chopper and confronted the retiree about the noise.

He pleaded guilty on Wednesday to committing criminal intimidation by threatening to injure Mr Ang Teck Poh, 67, at about 5pm on Nov 15 last year.

A charge of punching his father in the face at the same time and contravening a personal protection order was taken into consideration by the district judge when passing sentence of six months' jail.
