SINGAPORE - With taxi operators here set to introduce dynamic pricing for phone-booked rides in a bid to keep pace with private hire companies Uber and Grab, the debate as to which option offers commuters the best value for money will only get fiercer.

While the answer is likely to come only in the months ahead, three reporters from The Straits Times attempted to find out which of the three costs more at the moment.

They each hailed a ride from ComfortDelGro, Uber and Grab during the morning peak hour and travelled on the same route - from the Singapore Press Holdings' Toa Payoh North office to Republic Plaza in the Central Business District.
