Types of rental scams and how to avoid them

SINGAPORE - There are three known variants of rental scams, according to the National Crime Prevention Council’s Scam Alert website.

In the first, victims are offered a room or unit for rent, and pressured into paying the rent in advance to “secure the unit”.
