Two vessels collided off the coast of Singapore on Wednesday evening, said the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) in a statement.

At about 6.30pm, the Hong Kong-flagged chemical tanker, Lime Galaxy, was departing Singapore when it hit the arriving China-flagged container ship, Feihe. The incident occurred about 2.7km south of Jurong Island.

Three patrol craft were dispatched after Feihe reported that the collision caused some spillage of its bunker fuel, said the statement. Oil spill response companies were also activated to support clean-up efforts.

Both vessels are currently safely anchored and in stable condition, added the statement. There were no reports of injury in the incident and traffic in the port and the Strait of Singapore remains unaffected. MPA, which is investigating the cause of the collision, said it has issued navigational broadcasts to remind ships to navigate with caution when near the site of the collision.
