Motorists travelling to and from Yishun or Seletar Aerospace Park (SAP) will enjoy a faster and smoother ride from Saturday, with better connections to three expressways.
Two new flyovers will open at 5am in the northern part of Singapore, improving accessibility to, and traffic on, the Central Expressway (CTE), Tampines Expressway (TPE) and Seletar Expressway (SLE).
For instance, drivers travelling from Yishun to the CTE can expect to save up to 10 minutes on their journeys.
Motorists travelling from Yishun and the Seletar Aerospace Park will be able to connect directly to the CTE and Yio Chu Kang Road via Seletar West Link (Yishun Avenue 1).
Those travelling in the opposite direction will be able to use the new Exit 16 that connects the CTE to Seletar West Link.
The two new roads, the last of four new flyovers to open, will offer motorists access to Yishun and Seletar Aerospace Park, an alternative access to the expressways, and ease traffic conditions along Lentor Avenue and Yishun Avenue 2, according to the Land Transport Authority (LTA).
A new slip road connecting Yio Chu Kang Road to Seletar West Link via the flyover will also open to motorists.
The LTA has also widened the stretch of the TPE between Seletar Flyover and Seletar Aerospace Flyover, and the SLE between Seletar Flyover and Lentor Avenue.
The existing Yio Chu Kang Flyover has also been widened from three lanes to four in both directions.
All the road projects began in 2012. A stretch of Yishun Avenue 8, between Yishun Avenue 1 and Yishun Avenue 6, was opened in January this year to serve as an alternative link for motorists travelling from Yishun to Seletar West Link.
The road upgrades are also in anticipation of heavier traffic from upcoming developments there.
More than 17,000 new residential units - both public and private developments - will be built in Yishun over the next few years.
Seven private housing sites yielding close to 3,300 units have also been awarded to private developers for executive condominiums and landed housing developments.
