SINGAPORE – Two men were arrested in Redhill on Feb 25 after the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) seized a range of drugs, including nearly 2.8kg of cannabis.
The drugs had an estimated total worth of more than $135,000, and could potentially feed the addiction of about 490 drug abusers for a week, said CNB.
If found guilty of trafficking more than 500g of cannabis, the men may face the death penalty.
The men, aged 37 and 44, were standing next to a car when they were nabbed, said CNB on Feb 27.
Officers found about 901g of cannabis, 50g of Ice (methamphetamine), 16g of ketamine and 10g of Ecstasy inside the car.
One Erimin-5 tablet and four vape devices suspected to contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) were also seized.
THC is a chemical that affects one’s mood as it can cause euphoria, anxiety, disorientation or paranoia.
After escorting the 37-year-old man to his residential unit nearby, officers found about 1.89kg of cannabis, 139g of ketamine, 102g of Ice, 69g of cocaine and 93g of Ecstasy.
There were also 408 Erimin-5 tablets, 188 lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) stamps, 49 bottles of gamma-hydroxybutyrate, which is a party drug, and 36 vape devices suspected to contain THC.
Investigations into both suspects are ongoing.
In Singapore, LSD is a Class A controlled drug in the same category as heroin, cannabis and methamphetamine.
It is often sold on blotting paper typically imprinted with a colourful cartoon or design. Abusers are likely to experience effects such as increased heart rate and a loss of control of their thoughts.
