Two arrested for theft of motorcycle brakes at Changi Airport

Police have arrested two males in connection with a series of motorcycle parts thefts at Changi Airport.

The men, aged 21 and 17, were nabbed on Sunday night around 9pm while they were attempting to steal the front brakes of a motorcycle at Terminal 3.

Officers from the Airport Police Division had received a total of eight reports of theft of brake calipers at the three terminals from Jan 12 to 24.

The suspects will be remanded to assist in police investigations into similar thefts reported elsewhere in Singapore.

If convicted of theft of motor parts with common intention, they may be jailed up to seven years and fined.

Commander of Airport Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Sam Tee, said police will work with the airport to improve carpark lighting and coverage of surveillance cameras at its terminals.
