SINGAPORE - A tree fell on a taxi along Choa Chu Kang North 6 on Thursday afternoon (June 29), forcing the road to be closed for around an hour.

The taxi driver was not injured.

The driver, Mr Loo Chee Soon, said that he had stopped at a red light when he heard a cracking noise.

"I didn't know where it was coming from. Then, the tree hit my car," said the 61-year-old. "I was stunned and just sat there for about 5min."

Eventually, motorists helped him out of his vehicle.

The main branches of the tree had hit the taxi's passenger seat and bonnet, but missed the driver's seat.

When The Straits Times arrived at the scene, police officers were present. Workers were also chopping the tree into smaller pieces and hauling them to the side of the road.
