Tray return points and racks will be fitted at all hawker centres in Singapore in the next two years, the National Environment Agency said on Saturday.
This follows the successful completion of a pilot programme started at nine centres last November.
For a start, 34 centres will have the tray return facilities in the next eight months, the NEA said at an event in Jurong. There are 107 market and hawker centres here.
The agency also unveiled a tray return icon to help the public identify tray return-enabled eateries. This was selected from more than 200 entries in a competition held from May to July.
