Carpark data app to be unveiled

The Intelligent Transport Systems Lab launches its first showpiece app, Park&GO@SG, today. It collaborated with the Housing Board and Land Transport Authority to create the app, which will give drivers real-time data about carpark space availability and pricing within the proximity of the car as it cruises on the road. The app has the potential to reduce traffic congestion in and around parking spaces, saving drivers time and money.

GST on Indian Parliament agenda

India's Parliament reconvenes for the winter session today with the government attempting to push through controversial tax reforms, including the implementation of the national goods and services tax (GST).

The GST, which is expected to begin on April 1 next year, will subsume over a dozen state-level taxes to create a unified national market for goods and services. The winter session of Parliament will end on Dec 23.

Eyes on latest manufacturing data

Data on the local manufacturing sector's performance in October will be released today.

The monthly numbers are watched closely by economists, as factories make up a fifth of the Singapore economy.

The sector's performance has flagged in recent months amid a lacklustre global outlook and rising domestic business costs.
