Train service from Yew Tee to Kranji resumes after track fault causes hours-long disruption

SINGAPORE - MRT train services on the North-South line from Yew Tee to Kranji station have resumed after a track fault caused a four-hour disruption on Monday afternoon.

Train operator SMRT announced the disruption on its official Twitter channel at 3.07pm on Monday.

It added that "free public & shuttle buses" were available at affected stations.

At 7.33pm, it announced that train services had resumed. In updates on its Facebook page, SMRT revealed that the fault was caused by a damaged third rail which supplies power to the trains. It also explained that the high risk of lightning because of a thunderstorm hampered repair efforts.
