Car aspirations wane; few are willing to commute on bicycle
Fewer young Singaporeans aspire to own a car compared with six years ago, based on a face-to-face survey of around 500 respondents commissioned by The Straits Times and carried out by Nexus Link in April. About 50.4 per cent said they aspire to own a car within the next few years, down from 65.5 per cent in 2016. The survey also polled respondents about cycling, buying an electric car and driving a private-hire vehicle. Insight reports.

More people are cycling overall than they did six years ago, but most do not consider the bicycle as their primary mode of transportation.
A Straits Times survey on attitudes about car ownership and other forms of transportation conducted by research company Nexus Link in April found 50.5 per cent of respondents said they cycle more than five times a month, compared with 27.4 per cent in the same survey in 2016.
