SINGAPORE - Commuters travelling on the Circle Line on Thursday (March 3) found themselves delayed by about half an hour between the Paya Lebar and Dhoby Ghaut/Marina Bay stations.

Rail operator SMRT posted on its Twitter account at 11.39am that commuters should expect an extra 20 minutes of travelling time between the Stadium and Dhoby Ghaut/Marina Bay stations.

A subsequent update advised commuters to expect delays between the Paya Lebar and Dhoby Ghaut/Marina Bay stations.

Mr Alex Ng, who works in retail, said that he had taken the train from Serangoon station on his way to Beach Road for a meeting when the train he was on stopped at Paya Lebar station at about 11.20am.

After more than 20 minutes, an announcement was made advising commuters that the train would be delayed for five minutes.

"After that, at around 11.50am, they said that the train line towards Dhoby Ghaut was down," said the 30-year-old, adding that an announcement was later made for commuters to exit the train and cross over to the East-West Line.

SMRT later reported via Twitter that train services had resumed at 12.23pm, but that trains and platforms were crowded.
