Singapore Airlines (SIA) has re-clinched the No. 2 position in the Skytrax World Airline Awards rankings, according to an announcement on the World Airline Awards website.
The Skytrax World Airline Awards 2017, held at the Paris Air Show on Tuesday (June 20), saw some 20 million travellers of 105 different nationalities casting votes in a number of categories.
London-based research firm Skytrax named Qatar Airways as the world's best airline this year. Japan's All Nippon Airways was placed third, after Singapore Airlines.
Questions in the survey, which covers 320 airlines, touched on topics such as cabin comfort, staff grooming, and selection of meals available.
SIA had held second place in the rankings in 2015. However, it slid down to third place last year, after being overtaken by carriers Emirates and Qatar.
This year, in addition to taking the coveted second best ranking, SIA was also awarded Best Airline in Asia, Best Business Class Airline Seat, and Best Premium Economy Onboard Catering.
SIA has topped the rankings thrice before, having been voted best airline in the world in 2004, 2007 and 2008. Skytrax has been carrying out its rankings since 1999.
