SINGAPORE - The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has advised people to plan their journeys should they be using either the Woodlands or Tuas checkpoints ahead of the Deepavali public holiday on Nov 10.
Traffic at both checkpoints is expected to be heavy, building up from Friday (Nov 6) and continuing until Nov 10.
In a statement on Tuesday (Nov 3), the ICA advised travellers to adjust their plans if possible to avoid congestion.
Motorists were also advised to check on the traffic situation at both land checkpoints before embarking on their journey.
ICA also listed some tips for travellers to ease traffic build-up at the checkpoints, including carpooling and maintaining lane discipline, and encouraged Singaporeans, permanent residents and long-term pass holders to use the enhanced Immigration Automated Clearance System lanes at the bus halls .
