SINGAPORE - October's second Certificate of Entitlement (COE) bidding exercise starts noon on Monday, the Land Transport Authority said in a statement.

The total quota for tender is 1,905, including 572 COEs in Category A, for cars up to 1,600cc and 130bhp; and 507 COEs in Category B, for cars above 1,600cc or 130bhp.

For Category E, which can be used for any vehicle type, there are 242 COEs for tender, and in Category D, for motorcycles, there will be 317 COEs.

While most bidding exercises start on the first and third Mondays of the month and end on Wednesday in the same week, this round's bidding will end at 4pm on Thursday due to the Deepavali public holiday.

COE quotas are allocated every quarter and determined primarily by the number of vehicles deregistered in the preceding months.

For the quarter starting next month and ending January next year, there will be 3,977 COEs for tender every month, a 5.3 per cent increase from the current quarter.
