SINGAPORE - Chinese tourists can now purchase Flashpay contactless payment cards before coming to Singapore, and pick them up at Changi Airport when they arrive.
Nets and online payment platform Alipay, are offering the new $50 cards, which have a store value of $45. This is the first time that such cards are being made available for purchase overseas.
The Alipay Flashpay cards can be used to pay for bus and train rides, as well as for Comfort, CityCab and SMRT taxis. Selected foodcourts, convenience stores and supermarkets also accept the payment method.
Tourists from China can buy the card using the Alipay Wallet mobile app and then collect these cards at designated counters at the airport.
Mr Peh Ke-Wei, vice-president of passenger development at Changi Airport Group (CAG) said: "China is an important market to Changi Airport and is currently our fifth largest source market in terms of passenger numbers."
Customers are allowed to purchase up to five Alipay FlashPay Cards.
