Driving tests to go high-tech

From 2023, driving tests in Singapore may involve smart cameras and sensors at an Intelligent Driving Circuit (IDC).

Technology will be used to gauge drivers during practical lessons and tests and this could eliminate the need for assessors, said Minister for Home Affairs and Law K. Shanmugam yesterday. The Traffic Police will test the IDC at the Singapore Safety Driving Centre in 2021 before full implementation two years later.

Mr Shanmugam, who was speaking at the Singapore Road Safety Council gala dinner, said the technology will allow lessons to be taken outside current operating hours.
