COE prices for Open category up in September's first bidding exercise

SINGAPORE - Certificate of Entitlement (COE) prices for the open category surged ahead for September's first bidding exercise which ended on Wednesday.

COEs in the Open category, which is for any vehicle type but is typically used for big cars, finished at $74,403, a 2.2 per cent increase from the previous tender. While at a four-month high, it is short of the year's record price of $84,100 registered in April.

Premiums for big cars, which are above 1,600cc and 130bhp, increased $20 to $73,010.

Premiums for the small car and goods vehicle categories finished lower.

COEs for cars up to 1,600cc and 130bhp dipped 1.3 per cent to end off at $64,841, while those for goods vehicles and buses fell 4.8 per cent to $49,901.

COEs for motorcycles increased 2.3 per cent to $4,453.
