SINGAPORE - Certificate of entitlement (COE) prices defied gravity despite an enlarged supply on Wednesday, to end mostly higher.
COE for cars up to 1,600cc and 130bhp closed at $67,089, down slightly from $67,889 two weeks ago. COE for cars above 1,600cc or 130bhp ended higher at $74,389, up from $72,890.
The Open category, which can be used for any vehicle type but ends up mostly for bigger cars, climbed even higher. It finished at $76,904, up from $73,900.
Commercial vehicle COE closed lower at $60,001, down from $65,001. Motorcycle premium rose from $4,189 to end at $4,210.
Industry watchers said the year-end rush to meet sales targets is driving premiums up, as are the fatter profit margins dealers are enjoying now compared with six to 12 months ago.
