Testing for the East-West Line's (EWL) new signalling system went into full gear at the start of this week - a milestone in the effort to upgrade the 30-year-old MRT line.

While previous trials took place only on Sundays to minimise possible inconvenience to commuters, the new communications-based train control (CBTC) system is now being put through its paces daily.
