There are better ways to protect the interests of consumers and improve competition in the trade than preventing Grab from acquiring Uber, according to experts and industry players.

Premier Taxis managing director Lim Chong Boo said that ideally, app providers should focus on delivering a superior platform which matches supply and demand, while taxi and private-hire operators compete on pricing and service.
