Ms Ling Fang, Alstom's senior vice-president of Asia-Pacific, is the first Asian and woman to head an Alstom region.
French multinational Alstom expects regulators to approve its proposed merger with Siemens of Germany despite mounting concerns that the union of two rail giants will diminish competition.
Ms Ling Fang, Alstom's newly appointed senior vice-president of Asia-Pacific, disclosed this yesterday. "There is no deadline, but as with all such mergers, it needs approval from various regulatory bodies," Ms Fang said at a lunch meeting. "We've already been given approval in China, and approval is pending in Singapore and the European Union."
