$163.5m upgrading works to better fight tunnel fires

Cost of KPE, CTE project raises questions, but expert says investment is necessary

Works are under way to equip two underground roads here with the latest fire-fighting system, and the $163.5 million project is slated to be completed by 2022.

The investment was listed in this year's Budget, and it is for a Fixed Water-Based Fire-Fighting System in the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) and Central Expressway (CTE) tunnels.
