Singapore Press Holdings yesterday announced the result of a major review of its media business.

One key change is the merger of freesheet My Paper and daily tabloid The New Paper (TNP) to form a revamped TNP which will be distributed free from Dec 1.

The new product will have a circulation of 300,000, and will be available online.

SPH, which has 4,182 employees, will also reduce headcount by up to 10 per cent over two years "through attrition, retirement, non-renewal of contracts, outplacement and retrenchment". Fewer than 30 workers will be retrenched in the current exercise.

SPH said it will work with the relevant unions to ensure fair terms are given to affected staff and help support them in their transition.

As part of the review, SPH has also formed a new integrated marketing team to offer advertisers more effective reach to audiences across platforms.
