Tipper truck overturns on PIE near Kallang Way exit, causing congestion till BKE

SINGAPORE - A tipper truck overturned along the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) on Friday (Sept 22) morning.

The accident on the expressway before the Kallang Way exit towards Changi Airport left only the left-most lane passable by motorists, said the Singapore Police Force in a Facebook post at 7.47am.

"Motorists are advised to take alternative routes, and tune in to the radio for updates," it said.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it received a call at 4.07am. One person was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for minor injuries.

According to police, he was a 56-year-old male driver. Police are investigating.

In a tweet at 8.24am, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said the accident had caused a congestion all the way back to Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE), and that motorists should avoid lanes one and two.

When The Straits Times arrived at the scene at 10am, the jam had eased up and the truck in question had been removed.
