SINGAPORE – A tipper truck that spilled gravel on a stretch of the AYE on April 16 resulted in the expressway being closed for about two hours.
The police said it was alerted to the accident on the AYE towards the MCE at 12.55pm.
The truck, which was believed to have skidded, was driven by a 49-year-old man, the police said. The man is assisting with police investigations.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force said the driver suffered minor injuries but he declined to be taken to the hospital.
According to tweets by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on April 16, one of the lanes on the expressway was affected for at least six hours. The spill also resulted in the closure of the AYE after the CTE exit for about two hours in the evening.
In a video posted on Telegram group SGRoad Blocks, the tipper truck appears to have flipped on its side on the rightmost lane of the expressway.
An ambulance, an LTA traffic marshal bike and a Emas recovery truck can also be seen in the video.
