SINGAPORE - Three Singapore magazines, SilverKris, Singapore Health and The Johnny Walker House Edit, recently beat 1,900 other competing entries from around the world to clinch awards at the 27th Apex Awards 2015.
The three custom-published titles from SPH Magazines Pte Ltd's Custom Publishing unit won honours at the United States-based Apex Awards, which recognise excellence in publishing by professional communicators, SPH said in a release on Friday.
The September 2014 issue of SilverKris, the monthly inflight travel magazine of Singapore Airlines, won a Grand Award for its design and layout.
The Johnnie Walker House Edit Vol 2 (published for premium spirits distributor Diageo) was in turn singled out by the judges for an Award of Excellence for its writing.
The winning issue of the quarterly magazine focused on the concept of Creation, with articles and essays that celebrate original ideas and the people who bring them to life.
The third magazine, Singapore Health, which is published for the Singapore General Hospital and SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre, also received an Award of Excellence for its Nov/Dec 2014 issue under the custom-published category. The bi-monthly newspaper highlights medical breakthroughs and issues and "translates" them into layman-friendly terms and compelling case studies.
Ms Dora Tay, SPH Magazines' senior editor of custom publishing, said: "The teams working on the winning magazines are proud to be recognised for their efforts. Awards like these help to validate and confirm that we are on the right track, and we will continue to strive to produce magazines that not only serve our clients' purposes, but are also a source of pride."
