Three men were charged on Friday with rioting while armed with a deadly weapon to attack three Korean nationals at a walkway along Bras Basah Road last week.

Lee Wei Jian, 24, Kenneth Tien Ming Cheong, 21, and Desmund Luo Zhi Kai, 18, are said to have been with four other unknown men when some or all of them were armed with a wooden pole and beer glasses to cause hurt to Mr Bang Hee Hwan, Mr Choi Jung Jeong and Mr Choi Jewook, all 26, at about 4.30am on Jan 31.

Lee and Tien are not represented while Luo is represented by Mr Anil Singh Sandhu.

The prosecution applied for the trio to be remanded at Central police division lock-up for a week for investigation.

The three were among five men arrested by the police on Wednesday for the alleged offence.

Investigations against the other two men are ongoing.

The three Koreans were patrons of a club along Bras Basah Road when they were assaulted. They had facial injuries and were taken to hospital.

The three accused will be back in court on Feb 14.

If convicted, they could be jailed for up to 10 years and caned.
