Temasek Polytechnic students focus on social designs

A pack designed to filter water and generate electricity, a prosthetic arm for children and a space to encourage learning and play in a Cambodian orphanage, are some of creations on display by the graduating class of Temasek Polytechnic's School of Design.

The school is exhibiting 420 projects at its annual graduation show which will be open to the public from Thursday to Saturday.

Deputy director of the polytechnic's design school, Mr Darryl David said that it was not just about teaching students design fundamentals but also about getting them to think about making a positive impact in society.

The school is working with organisations like Hyflux and Community Outreach Services Immanuel on the production of these designs.
