SINGAPORE - A driver believed to be just 17 years old was arrested for driving without a valid licence early on Wednesday (June 7) after fleeing from police in Ghim Moh.

The Straits Times understands that the police were alerted after someone made a report. The teenager was then spotted at Ghim Moh but he drove off, sparking a police chase.

He was eventually arrested along Commonwealth Avenue West.

A friend of the driver told citizen journalism site Stomp in a report on Thursday (June 8) that the boy had allegedly taken his grandfather's car for a joyride.

The police told ST on Friday (June 9) that they were alerted to a case of driving without a valid licence at 18 Ghim Moh Road at 3.47am on Wednesday.

The car driver was arrested in relation to the case, and police investigations are ongoing.
