Tech problems? NYP students on hand to give advice

More than 100 students and alumni from Nanyang Polytechnic's (NYP) School of Engineering have joined an online network to help the public with problems they face using technological gadgets.

Blockpooling.sg is a resource-sharing website for people living in close proximity with one another. The volunteers, who have all studied under NYP's Multimedia & Infocomm Technology course, will post their technical know-how on the website. They will deal mainly with issues on how to use the Internet, mobile gadgets, smart televisions and cable access.

This project organised by the polytechnic aims to encourage students to be active and useful members of the community. "While many of us are comfortable with different types of technology, we should be mindful that some of our neighbours may face difficulty using these gadgets. I am heartened to see that our students are interested to care and help," said Mr Edward Ho, senior director of NYP's school of engineering.

Chief executive of Estatebuzz, which created Blookpooling.sg, Moh Hon Meng: "We invite anyone who feels they have the relevant infocomm skills to offer their help at Blockpooling.sg." For more information, visit www.blockpooling.sg
