Teacher held after video shows 'abuse' of boy

Police have arrested a 51-year-old childcare teacher who allegedly dragged a three-year-old boy across the floor and pushed him onto the ground, causing him to fracture his shin.

A police spokesman, who confirmed the arrest on Sunday, said investigations are ongoing.

The Ministry of Social and Family Development is also looking into the alleged abuse case which is believed to have occurred on July 5 at the NTUC My First Skool childcare centre in Toa Payoh.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media and forum page since the video was posted on Saturday. In the two-minute video, the woman was seen dragging the boy with force across the floor and pushing him onto the ground.

His parents have posted a picture of his injured leg, which was bandaged knee-down on Facebook. They added in a post: "When you discipline a child, it does not mean breaking his bone and torturing his mental state."
