Tampines accident update: Father of two boys thanks well-wishers

The father of the two boys who were killed in Tampines on Monday has thanked well-wishers who have offered their condolences.

Mr Francis Yap, 39, said on Wednesday night that many people whom he didn't know have showed their concern.

Some have also asked him "to be strong", he said before the start of an evening service at the wake of his sons, Nigel, 13, and Donavan, seven.

He said strangers have gone to the wake at Block 463 in Tampines Street 44.

"Some told me they lost two daughters. Some told me that they lost their son, and also told me to be strong because they have the same feelings," he said.

The boys' funeral will be held at 4.30pm at Mandai Crematorium on Thursday.

The brothers were killed when their bicycle was hit by a cement mixer truck at the junction of Tampines Avenue 9 and Tampines Street 45 on Monday evening.

The driver is currently out on bail and his licence has been suspended.
