Tamil language festival encourages community to use language in everyday lives

From March 30 to April 28, there will be a host of literary, oratorical and cultural events lined up to encourage the Tamil community to embrace their mother tongue and use it in their daily lives.

Organised by the Tamil Language Council and the Education Ministry's Tamil Language and Learning Promotion Committee, the Tamil Language Festival this year will include activities such as a Malaysia-Singapore Tamil Literature Conference and a script writing workshop.

Mr S. Iswaran, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, will officially launch the month-long festival on March 30. The programme is in its seventh year.
