More than 100 pre-schoolers from NurtureStars childcare centre, accompanied by their parents, made a trip to the Singapore Discovery Centre yesterday to learn about the rigorous training that Singapore Armed Forces national servicemen undergo to become protectors of the land.

At the event, NSmen shared their national service experience with the children. They were joined by members of the SAF Veterans League, who regaled them with their army stories - acquired through many years of service.

Besides visiting the Army Museum and going on a bus tour of the Safti Military Institute, the children were given a feel of military training.

They tried out a miniature version of some of the obstacles in the SAF's Standard Obstacle Course, and learnt some simple military drills. The event was part of activities to mark SAF Day today.
