Police on Thursday, arrested four men in connection with four cases of theft from the elderly reported earlier this month.

The four suspects, aged between 21 and 55 years, were said to have approached the elderly victims who were alone in their homes during the day.

They would offer to perform prayers for the victims in their homes but once allowed inside, one would recite prayers, while the others would search the flat for valuables.

Officers from Clementi Police Division managed to establish the suspects' identities and arrested them along Syed Alwi Road during a raid at about 2am Thursday.

If convicted, they may be jailed up to 14 years, and caned.
