A 26-year-old man involved in the horrific slashing of a 20-year-old over the weekend was arrested along Tanglin Halt Road on Wednesday afternoon, the police said in a statement.
The police are also appealing for information on a second man, 38-year-old Singaporean Mohd Hisham Bin Mohd Salled, to assist with investigations.
Mr Mohammad Ashiq Saptu, 20, broke his legs and his left arm while trying to shield himself after his cousin and a friend attacked him with what he described as a "watermelon knife". The attack took place in broad daylight at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4.
Mr Mohammad Ashiq successfully underwent a major operation on Tuesday, and is recovering in a general ward at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
