Students make Cenotaph stop on heritage trail

Students from Teck Whye Secondary School, accompanied by Second Minister for Trade and Industry, and Home Affairs S. Iswaran, making a stop at the Cenotaph war memorial in Esplanade Park on Saturday.

Mr Iswaran and the students recited the Singapore Pledge together on the steps of the memorial before continuing on the trail.

The Cenotaph hit the headlines last week after it was vandalised for the second time in less than six months. Police investigations are ongoing.

The visit was part of a new heritage trail that aims to promote Tamil among younger Singaporeans.

It was created by the students together with the National Heritage Board and the Tamil Language Council, and in conjunction with the month-long Tamil Language Festival.
