Straits Times' NDP 2013 contest: Winners of 48-word Singaporean story chosen

They shared their Singaporean story in just 48 words - and won tickets to the National Day Parade.

A total of 50 entries were selected from about 500 who took part in The Straits Times' National Day Parade 2013 contest, held over the last three weeks.

The top 25 entries will get a pair of tickets to the parade on Aug 9 to celebrate the nation's 48th birthday. The next 25 best entries will get tickets to the NDP preview this Saturday.

Entries were selected based on creativity. Some described their Singaporean story using past National Day theme songs, while others described Singaporean experiences like reserving seats with tissue paper and tuition classes.

The winners of the Aug 9 tickets are Chee Yan Hua, Koh Szer Hwee, Heng Shu Hui, Yvonne Elizabeth Chee, Kevin Gareth, Nooridiah binte Rahim, Mah Kang Yuan Marcus Gerard, Tan Rachel, Dagomir Kaszlikowski, Jaslyn Chua Gek Ling, Wee Hui Ling, Angelina, Priscilla Chew, Lim Bee Hiang, Christabel Chong Shu Ying, Lim Wei, Chan Kin Shen, Chua Hui Xiang, Lee Wen Jie, Loh Chin Siew, Bryan Chua Chia Chwin, Leong See Heng, Katherine Lee, Ong Wei Jie Reuben, Ivy Tan, and Joel Tan Yean Heng.

Winners of the NDP preview tickets this Saturday are Shermaine Lau, Tan Shyuan Zhao Nicole, Kris Ye Shu Min, Fung Ai Wei, Lim Hwee Chong, Asanthi Mendis, Nur Ashiqin Bte Abdul Karim, Kimberly Lai, Kwong Wai Mun, Paul Chua, Yan Kam Wah Robert, Jessica Lau, Sim Yi Jin Gladys, Wong Yan-Kit Kenny, Tan Jin Le, Kuek Si Xin, Goh Hui Kheng Karen, Angie. S, Josiah Kek, Priscilla Soh, Hew May Leng, Pang Xue Qiang, Muhammad Irfan Bin Mohamed Noor, Lim Jia Jun and Joel Tan Yean Heng.
